Sea Watch International, Ltd, headquartered in Easton, MD, was a co-sponsor of this year's Newport Rhode Island's chowder cook-off on June 7th. Sea Watch hosted the VIP kickoff party Friday night. Local restaurants, sponsors and press were among the 300 attendees enjoying the local entertainment and a variety of clam dishes prepared by Sea Watch.

The original and longest running chowder cook-off in the world had over 20 different restaurants competing head-to-head for the titles of best clam chowder, best seafood chowder, best creative chowder and clam cake. More than 3,000 gallons of chowder were served and 15,000 attendees came to be the judges. The results were: Skippers Restaurant from South Yarmouth, MA won for best clam chowder, The Mooring Seafood Kitchen from Newport, RI won for best seafood chowder and The Boathouse from Tiverton, RI won for the best creative chowder. The best clam cake was won by Harmon's Clam Cakes from Kennebunkport, ME. Each category winner received 1,500 cash prize.
